Can anyone offer any thoughts on this matter?
I need to design a steel beam connection to a masonry wall. I need to connect it via an end plate and I plan to use steel threaded studs fixed using epoxy-based resin into the masonry substrate. As there needs to be a group of studs, I am worried that the tolerances between the studs and the end plate bolt holes will mean that not all the studs are in contact leaving some studs overloaded. Can anyone suggest a practical way to deal with this? I was considering specifying a liquid shim compound to fill in the gaps, but I don't think that will work in this application.
