Are micro piles better in resisting shear forces than piles?

Nope. Shear resistance is proportional to the cross-sectional area of the pile or micropile. If the piles have a greater cross-sectional area, then they will offer more shear resistance - and vice versa.

But don't forget that the shear has to be transferred to the soil somehow. Micropiles are considerably more flexible than piles because their smaller size results in much smaller (flexural) section moduli. So you will get more movement with a slope reinforced with micropiles in comparison to a slope with an equal shear reinforcement using piles.

Having said all that, a 1-to-1 comparison of shear resistance isn't typically used to compare the two approaches...
