shear force in concrete walls due to dead load?

I'm finding a significant amount of gravity load being transferred into my shear walls in the form of in plane shear. Is this normal?

I have my slab modeled and am applying stiffness modifiers to it. The configuration isn't something i would expect for this to occur. Is this strange?
 
doing a little more digging, research, and experimentation it appears that these walls are acting as deep beams after a good look at the boundary conditions (how the ends of the walls are supported and the internal shears associated with deep beam behavior is being reported.

Question then is: should these in plane shears be ignored when it comes to designing to wall for lateral shear and then justify the design of the shear wall design as a deep beam for gravity loads (Design based on strut and tie model)

Whats your mesh size?

When you've got the assign wall mesh dialogue open, are you ticking the option that goes something along the lines of "add restraints on edges"?



 
Maximum mesh size is about 5 feet. I have attached a screenshot to show scale of mesh relative to wall. Wall is several stories tall (3 below, 2 above).

The option is ticked on to "add restraints on edges"

Maybe the wall is spanning between the returns for some reason?

See if the reactions are at every analysis node of the auto-mesh?
