Hello,

I am working on a degree project involving the shear capacity of wood I-joists with web holes. I am trying to find a mathematical model to calculate the joist shear capacity. As far as I know, currently the industry bases shear capacity on testing alone. Does anybody know a way to model a wood I-joist (such as a Vierendeel analysis) to calculate the shear capacity? Does anyone know of any papers or journals that have been written on this subject?
