We have Ingersol Rand Vertical pump that has been rebuilt twice in the last 2 years that experiences harden shaft sleeve wear, but yet the cutless bearings experience no wear. It is in a raw water service with lots of sand...Does anyone having any solutions?

Incorporate a fresh water supply to your rubber bearings to help exclude the ingress of sand in the pumped water.
