Hi,

I have to layout a square to round sheet metal job and I would like to use NX 7.5 or NX 8.

I can draw the top (round ring) and the bottom (square outline) but how do I join them together?

I am making the part out of 0.025" Stainless steel, 2 sections for ease of manufacturing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the link, I need the round offset to one side.

I can't seem to get that link/ calculator to give me anything when I hit calculate.

Thanks

It generates a text file in Mt Documents for me.
Renamed it to *.dxf and it opens the flat pattern layout in Wildfire

To do an offset transistion, you will need to adjust the round opening location. The concept would be the same.

Use the Sheet Metal Environement in NX 7.5 or 8 and choose the Lofted Flange command. This will give you what you are after. If you want to build in (2) pcs, design in 180deg segments.

NX 8 version attached. There are some definite issues with the algorithm that they are working on. Certain dimensional criteria will cause the part to not unfold.
