Hi all

I was told that #/SF=#/LF when analyzing a section of concrete. For example the dead load was 150#/SF and they said if you take a linear section of it, it will convert to 150#/LF. Then you can plug 150#/LF into your bending moment equation.

Is this correct? If so could anyone give me a detailed explanation why or why not, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I'm guessing that you're asking, for a slab analysis, can you analyze a one foot wide section of the slab using the square foot loadings. The answer is yes. But what you're actually doing is converting the units by multiplying by the width assumed.
I'm not sure anyone here can explain in detail without sitting down next to you and instructing you. And that's the job of your supervisor.
