Sewage sludge is non newtonian fluid. The relationship betweeen head and flow is not linear. There is a lot of published data on the subject however it is difficult to get the data to establish what mathmatical model reflects the characteristics of the sludge.
The sludge will vary depending upon whether it is primary or activated sludge, the degree of solids, polymer addition, temperature, shear rate, type of pump used and % screenings.
Try the AWWA website. books by Metcalf & Eddy, USEPA website and the WRc in the UK for data.
AFT's software Fathom can model Non Newtonian fluids such a sewage sludge however you will need the base data for the power law or Bingham fluids parameters.
