I am trying to use Actual Work and Remaining Work to adjust the planned Finish date of a task in progress (with an Actual Start date) when resource leveling. However, when I level, project seems to set the planned Finish date based on the Remaining Work from the Actual Start date rather than from the current/status date. In other words, Project seems to assume that the Remaining Work is as of the Actual Start date rather than as of the status/current date.
I thought Remaining Work calculations were based on the status (by default current) date. Is there a setting I need to adjust so that it works that way, or am I going about this incorrectly?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you tried baselining beforehand?

Thanks for your reply, IRstuff.
No, I haven't yet baselined the project yet. Usually I would before work began, but in this case work on part of the project had to begin before I could confirm the plan for other modules. I was actually doing one last resource leveling to set the planned dates based on the current status before baselining. Would baselining first make a difference?

No idea... that was the only thing I could think of that might make a difference.

I think I remember having a similar problem. Have you disabled the splitting of tasks?

Under tools / options the calculation tap, there is a box to check if you want the remaining work scheduled from the status date or the actual start date.
