Since i'm fairly new user to NX,I can't find wher can I set default solid body colors.I tried File/utilities/Customer Defaults/Object/Solid body but it doesn't work.I don't know how but my default color has changed by itself somehow to orange.Appreciate any help.

Customer Defaults will only affect NEW parts created after the changes are made and this does NOT include the Templates as they already exist. If you wish to change the settings of an existing file, including your templates files, once the file is open, go to...

Preferences -> Object -> General

...and change your default object colors there. Please remember to to press the 'Apply' button after each specific change or they will not be saved when you hit OK.

Problem is, it doesn't affect new parts, color stays as it was before. Is there some way to change the Templates settings?

Thank you for replying so promptly!

You have to open the template parts themselves as Part filea, edit and then save them. The default template files can be found at...

...\UGII\templates

The files that you're looking for, if you're just talking about the normal modeling templates, are:

model-plain-1-inch-template.prt

and

model-plain-1-mm-template.prt

I modified model-plain-1-mm-template.prt to default object colors, save it and copied over previous, and when I open new modeling template part, nothing has changed.I opened the "modified" template and it's like nothing happened, the colors I saved are not there. What is going on here, where are the settings that can "really" change system colors, why I can't change templates?

Did you do it using Preferences -> Object{/b]? Did you assign specific colors or just accepted the default? You say you're changing "system colors". Well what is it, OBJECT COLORS or SYSTEM COLORS? If you're still having problems tell me what colors you want changed and I'll send you a new temaplate part myself.

Here's what I did

1.New/model template
2.Preference/object and assigned the specific color for solid model (No 129 medium steel).
3.Saved it and copied over previous template.

Final results is it didn't changed anything.Where else is information that NX uses about object colors.I bet if the NX was uninstalled, and installed again it would be the same?

Thank you for replying!

I have no problem whatsoever editing my 'master' template files and having them work as I want them to. Attached is a copy of the Metric modeling template file with the Solid Body color set to #129 (Medium Steel).

New moments , when I open directly attached template from file/open (copied in UGII/templates) it works fine. When I go New/model template it doesn't read the copied template, agin it's the colors I donn't want. Why NX doesn't read this copied template?

Thank you for replying!

Someone has modified your system or the pax file used to open the templates. That sort of thing is not easy to debug using a forum like this. The easiest solution may be for you to simply uninstall and then reinstall NX. Then you should be able to make the changes that you want.
