Following on from thread248-128731 I found the site linked below while looking for a service manual for a Tek 2465B 'scope. There is a _lot_ of stuff in there!

Nice. I actually have a 2465! But wait! They shipped it with a service manual in its back pack.

BTW What? "linked below"???

Oops, I forgot the damned link!

Don't ya just wish there was an edit facility??

My 'scope is sick at the moment: the on screen alphanumeric characters are not visible except when certain controls are moved, when they appear for a fraction iof a second. This means I can't see the onboard diagnostics or cal routines. I know most of the front panel pots drive a MUX / DAC arrangement shared by a number of pots rather than carrying the actual signal and the pot which controls the intensity of the alphanumeric stuff is one of these. I am suspecting a power supply rail or voltage reference is either out of tolerance or with excess ripple, but any other ideas would be appreciated from anyone who has seen this fault before on this family of scopes.

Thanks for that link. I seem to search more and more for manuals, even tho in theory I have all I need.

For the ship we are building now, I have identified 94 unique pieces of equipmment that require passwords to operate, troubleshoot, load software, program or ??? Some have 4 or more levels. It isn't usually until something breaks that I discover I need a password to do something. I know there are more than the 94 for sure! Sometimes manuals tell default passwords, so this site may come in handy some day for me. Why knows?

BAMA is mainly for amature radio, old fashiond valve (tube)powered Boat Anchors that our dads used to make, the test gear is only a supliment and the guy is not adding any more test gear manuals.
However the site is very usefull.

Scotty some TEK scopes use the brightness/intensity control to toggle the alphanumeric on and off, a rapid motion cw turns it on and ccw off, a noisy pot makes it flick on and off for fun.
