This is an odd request. Does anyone know if it is possible to produce a sensor that can watch (no electrical contact) a screen (monitor) and with pattern recognition software, identify numbers?

Do you have the source of the program which writes on the monitor?

It is possible to read the screen but not simple or cheap.

Unfortunately not. The source code is not available so in order to read the number (which is always in the same place, same format) I need some kind of reader to place the number into my software so that I can act on it.

It is possible with a TV camera, frame grabber and software
-- what I think you can't buy off the shelf, so it won't
be a cheap deal.

I think your right about it being complicated...I have now approached the data vendor and hopefully I will be able to get hold of the source code....thanks, Simon.

What is the equipment, the computer? Do you know the operating system ?
