Dear all,

I am currently doing cohesive zone modeling and want to know if I can do the following in the visualization module.

In a simple Mode I example, I want the visualization module to show me only the stresses in the cohesive elements, because when I view the contour results for the entire structure I don't get good resolution with the color gradients to see the high stress gradients in the cohesive model. However, when I suppress the field output to only the set of cohesive elements, I lose the ability to view the deformed structure since I don't have displacement information for the entire structure.

Is there a way to selectively display the stress contour only for a given section or region while keeping field output to "entire model"?

Thanks for your help,

Chris

Dear all:

I just found out how to do this from the manual and am posting the solution.

In ABAQUS 6.10,

Go to Results -> Options -> Computation -> Averaging -> Average element output at nodes -> Use region boundaries ->(Drop Down selection) ODB Regions

Change the ODB Regions to "Element Sets", and then select which element sets you want.

*Let me know if there is a better, or more proper, way.

Regards,

Chris
