selection of new control valve

Dear Experts,
What are the guidelines for selecting the type of control valve and it's actuator for a new natural gas pipeline line feeds the flare of polyethylene plant.

Flow, Size, Compatibility

A globe valve would be a choice for smaller line sizes up to 2 or 3" after that they start getting expensive so then you look at a ball or eccentric disc or butterfly style.

Gather together all the data like pressure, temperature, flow, Material compatibility and run it by your valve vendor
