I am designing a half through steel truss with span of 52m (approx 170 ft) and skew angle of 15 degs. Since the skew angle is small, there are no end trimmers, the end cross beams are just rotated in plan by 15 degs.

I read some guidance, rocker bears should be placed under the acute corners to provide torsional restraints to the beam or truss from twisting. As there are two acute corners, do I have to put a rocker bearing at each acute corner?

Why not use elastomeric bearings? We used them on two truss rehabs.

Bridgebuster,

If torsional restraint is needed at the support positions, elastomeric bearings seems to be flexible...

For your tursses, are they all skew bridge?

Bridgebuster,

British steel bridge design code doesn't cover U frmae / half through bridge with skew, how about other codes?
