Hello ;
I wanted to know how to choose the arrangement (1,2 or 3) one seal, two seals, buffer or barrier and whether liquid or gas in the mechanical seals
In API 682 is not really clear
thank you my friend

Single seal, leaks to atmosphere, captured at drain connection.

Dual seal, barrier fluid is pressurized, leaks into process, zero emissions. Not the best choice for closed systems where fluid recirculates because the barrier fluid will accumulate in the process, and you need a plan to handle that.

Dual seal, buffer fluid is non-pressurized, process leaks into buffer, then contaminated buffer fluid is replaced and handle separately.

thank you very much 1 gibson.
where I can find a less complex organization chart that API 682

In addition to the main Question, I am also confuse that When I go to category 2 and 3, Because both are for API pumps. so which category i choose while selection of seal??

Thanks in advance.
