We are looking for a reference book or tutorial that talks about placement of geophone in terms of designing an array for a survey.

I am looking for something we can reference when making design decisions rather than simply using the "we have always done it this way or that" defense.

Any of you out there have a favorite reference book that covers this topic or know of a tutorial on a website???

Regards
Larry Mackey

Google Charles H. Dowding...his book give this info

Doesn't the manufacturer of the equipment even have a reference manual? Also, if you are looking at placement of sensors, what will you do about interpreting the data??

There are any number of software packages the can take the data sets created by a geophone array. I was looking for a reference book or similar that talks to any issues generated with inaccurate or varied positions sensor to sensor. We have ordered one of the books that Ron suggested and plan

I would suggest 'Seismic Refraction Exploration for Engineering Site Investigations" by Bruce B. Redpath.
