Hi

I have a vertical vessel with lug supports. Client asked for NBC2010 seismic design code but I received the following warning when using NBC2010 Seismic Design Code:

"Warning: This is a vertical vessel on support lugs and the earthquake type selected is a building code. Building codes assume all of the mass is located above the point of support. This makes their use on lug supported vessels questionable. It is strongly suggested that based on the seismic zone and applicable parameters, an appropriate lateral (Gx) and (+-) vertical (Gy) acceleration be applied using the G loading option."

By changing the Seismic Design code to G-loading option, it requires me to enter directional accelerations (Longitudinal Gx, Lateral Gz, Vertical acceleration Gy). I believe I have to use the Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) value given in NBC2010 but am not 100% sure on how to convert it to the directional accelerations as required by the G-loading option. Any advice?

Thanks,
Al
