I was asked to design shaft walls using Monograph No. 27. My plan checker requires me to add seismic. Can I use the reaction coefficients for my computed seismic force?

Are we talking tunnels?

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

Yes the vertical air shaft is for a tunnel with soil assumed in level with top of wall for easy application of tables. Is Load IX a fit for applying seismic? Although seismic should be in plane....

This sounds like a question for your plan checker.... It could be that i have no idea what you are talking about or it could be a broken coffee machine today.
