Hi guys so I'm currently working on a 2 story storage building that has 1 story which is halfway buried(buried completely on north side then tapered until completely exposed on south side). Do I need to do a seismic analysis on the first floor? Usually seismic analysis is only require above ground level and this is kind of a weird situation with it so was wondering how you guys would approach it or if there's some literature on it. Obviously the seismic load on a storage building can be significant which is both the reason I don't want to do it if I don't have to and the reason I feel like I need to do it unless I can clearly justify not doing it.

Have a look at the links I posted in this thread: thread507-486867.
