Sect. VIII Appendix 1-6 Dished Head Welds

I have designed a head per Appendix 1-6, Fig. 1-6(d). This arrangement has a full-pen weld over the thickness of the dished head, but in regards to the welds, this part of the code specifies only that the welds must be 'smooth' with no specifics on any fillet or other cover welds laid in an effort to make the transition from head to flange 'smooth' as required.

Does anyone know of anywhere in the code that might apply to size any cover welds in this arrangement? I gleened through UW and found nothing that I could construe as applicable.
