SE Exam Grading Question

Just curious on the SE exam grading from any who has already taken it or may just know. Just kind of curious how the grading in the afternoon really works how important clarity and references are?

I took the April exam and after it I feel like I probably did not do enough to pass in the afternoon struggled with a few parts to problems (time became a real issue for me). Was just looking for some input from those who have already been there done that.

Look at the NCEES website for grading methods. I'm pretty sure there are SEs who grade it.
Time is a problem. I took it twice and you are always going to use all of your allotted time with little to no time to go back and review. I hope you passed.

Thanks for the reply PE. Yeah, I have read what is said on NCEES. I started off organized, writing clearly, referencing code sections, but then you just get to a point where you need to get moving faster and it kind of goes down hill in terms of that. But was a good experience on my first attempt I took both exams so we will see but it was an extremely difficult exam particularly the afternoon sections.

It's hard to tell but as best I can guess the most important thing is getting the right steps performed. If they can figure out what you're trying to do then I believe you're covered. If you get the right answer then no matter what you're probably good. If you got the wrong answer then I believe you need to show you checked the right things from the right code. If they can't figure out what you're trying to check then I think you're in trouble.

When I passed I made sure to write down the most basic level of references and clarity. But once I felt they would be able to get an idea of what I was doing I did the most simplistic calculations I could. First time I tried the SE I wasn't able to finish the afternoon. 2nd time (when I passed) I was able to finish about 10 minutes early. If you need to take the exam a second time you should be much more capable of speeding up the afternoon problems.

I can confirm that it is possible to pass the test and not complete all sections of the afternoon problems. However, I believe it is important to list your references so that the graders can see your intent. This is also a good habit/practice in general as it improves your calculations.
