screw thread torque calculations 1

Is there a formular for working out the torque required for specific thread sizes. this includes thread pitch and thread diameter. TYI
 
If you are in the UK there is a British Standard that provides such a method (BS3580).

One of the best references I have found for bolting issues is by John H Bickford - An introduction to the design and behaviour of bolted joints (ISBN: 0-8247-8167-8 published by Marcel Dekker inc). This also has suitable methods.

Anyone have, or knows access to, a good chart that cross-references metal surface roughnesses for DIN, ISO, and ANSI?
