Screw Piles are an ideal method for foundations in environmentally sensitive locations or in terrain where access is difficult. In certain load and geological conditions, steel screw piles offer a cost and time effective solution. But in certain soil conditions they require cathotic protection. Screw Piles can be installed vertically or raked to a specified angle to withstand building loads in soil conditions ranging from loose sand to clay or shale. They are usually employed where the ground conditions are primarily cohesive.
My experence is with High Voltage Tranmission Lines and Anchoring Systems. We utilized the torque resistance to provide theoretical capacities - both in tension and in compression.
