any oil or gas electricians out there know of land based industries that are good training grounds for the oil and gas industry i.e using scr power systems?

Hello reegoss
Maybe I miss something on your question but I'll give it my own interpretation.Start the ball rolling ,so to speak.
I work for a land based oil refinery. The in house training on SCRs (VFDs)despite of the fact that we have plenty of them,is mostly obtained externally. From time to time, we bring in to the plant, instructors for whatever craft or training we need.We are a large company,(>4000 people)most large companies as far as probably follow the same practice.A lot of the training available in any plant, has more to do with the individual craving for knowledge, than the training process.
Sorry if my answer is totally off the mark.I tried !.

You might find the bigger mines in the North West are still
running SCR controlled Dump Trucks as well as the Drill rigs, or try the Smelter/electroplate type industries Great training areas
