I'm not sure what you mean by "fastener schematic", maybe you mean to create an exploded view including fasteners?
I like Solidworks, but I also use Corel Draw for things like this. I put everything into PDF files since everyone here can use Acrobat.
Some people may like Visio, AutoCad, Visual CADD, etc!
Lots of alternatives.
