Is a SCBF embedded in an IMF accepted as a Dual system?
Or they should have different locations to be accepted.

The referenced book is "Seismic Design Review Workbook"? Hehe.. Frankestein. That is not a dual system. That's something you've made up.
A dual system has discrete shear walls or braced frames combined with discrete moment frames both acting in the same direction but in separate locations in the building. They are not some combined Frankenstein frame.
I'd recommend you get the book by Steve Hiner for a better understanding of seismic force resisting systems and their selection.
Not a lot of space to put braces (just exterior walls allowed).why would you want to do that? it would basically just act like an SCBF with unnecessary/expensive detailing for the moment connections
Yes.The referenced book is "Seismic Design Review Workbook"? Hehe.. Frankestein.
