Hi

I would like to measure the dimensions of a solid directly on screen using the Scale Planes command. However inorder to optimize accuracy I have to store my computer screen dimensions in millimeters with the following two variables:

set CATWidthMMOfScreen = width_in_millimeters
set CATHeightMMOfScreen = height_in_millimeters

Do I input the above variables in the run command or do I have to go into the catia enviroment? How can I determine what unit of measurement the dimensions of my screen is currently stored in. I am running windows xp.

Thank you for your time.

If I understand your post; you want to hold a scale (ruler)against the screen and take measurements.

And you're worried about accurcy?

How will you compensate for differnt hardware settings for the monitor?

Is the Measure tool too hard to use? Not accurate enough?

You set those in the Catia enviroment file or directly as windows variables.

Could you elaborate more on why you want to do this? If it is projected measures you are after then it can be setted in the measure tool.

Right on! I opened windows environment variables and stored my screens dimensions successfuly. The reason why opted for the Scales Plane command is because of simplicity. A grid is superimposed over the object and you can take measures directly on screen on a 1:1 scale. However like jackk mentioned you have to compensate for hardware settings. Which I just did.
The solid I am trying to measure has many contours and irregular protrusions which I could not accurately measure with the measure tool.

Thank you for your help guys!
