Safe layout iin workshop

I am working as advisor to a school board. They have an industrial arts room where they want to use somwe wood working tools eg a 10" table saw, a planer , lathe etc.
Does any one know of a guide or standard for layout of the room for safety purposes? Is there a safety space envelope so students can use these tools without encroaching on each other danerously.
