SAE (or other) standard for 12 Volt Battery Connections

I'm trying to figure out what SAE standard addresses the connectors on 12 Volt Batteries.
I believe Japan (JIS) also has a similar standard and ISO most likely has a standard.

The image below can be found on a number of battery supplier web sites. I've got to believe this comes from an SAE standard but nobody that published their version of "Technical Information" includes any references to where this information comes from.

Can anyone provide me with the SAE (and other) standard numbers for the below type of battery connectors?

How strange. So many references to "SAE Terminal" and many with dimensions, yet none with an SAE specification. There are two sizes of that - one for positive terminals and a smaller one for negative terminals, sharing the same taper rate.

As far as I can tell only the conical one is referred to as SAE. The rest of them are just whatever battery makers have added to the market place.

Of the conical version it appears that SAE, DIN, and JIS all are the same base dimension and tolerance and taper in the various references excluding the JIS "Pencil" terminals. They differ slightly in total height.

This leads me to believe that SAE had a standard, but gave it up long ago, but the reference to SAE continues.

Probably the best try would be to contact a battery manufacturer.

It would not surprise me if this is an "everyone knows" situation. I will note that Interstate doesn't make batteries.

Interstate markets and sells batteries.

Power-Sonic does make them.

GS Yuasa, Trojan Battery Company, seem like good targets. Exide is in India. Brookfield owns Clarios, based in Wisconsin.

Are you asking to talk to technical support/engineering?
