Hello to all !

one simple question i have..

i have one PQR with details as follow:

welding process : GTAW+SMAW
BW , PIPE : 88,9 mm diameter with 7,62 thickness
base material : SA 312 Tp 304L

filler material used : ER308L&E308L-16

question : can i prepare new WPS using ER316L&E316-L16 filler materialls and put this PQR in welding book with the new WPS?

best regards!

A further stipulation: Yes, if material is not subject to imnpact testing.

I was under the impression that austenitic stainless steel alloys are typically exempt from impact testing.

Best regards - Al

Indeed, but certain applications like cryogenic service in B31.3 may require impact testing, even for austenitic stainless steels I think.

I should have added the deposited weld metal under materials - not just the base metal.
