Sorry, made a mistake. Let me start again.

SA213-304 and A511-304 have the same UNS # - S30400.

Could they replace each other for the media acrylic?

Thank you in advance.

Depends upon the application & whether codes (e.g., Boiler & Pressure Vessels) apply.

UNS S30400 is just a composition of a very common stainless steel.
ASME SA213, ASTM A213 & A511 are product specifications [SA indicates the ASME adaptation of an ASTM A specification].

A213 Standard Specification for Seamless Ferritic and Austenitic Alloy-Steel Boiler, Superheater, and Heat-Exchanger Tubes contains performance test requirements, including flattening & flaring, not in A511.

A511-04 Standard Specification for Seamless Stainless Steel Mechanical Tubing includes some dimensional tolerance requirements (& even square tubing] not found in A213.

SA versions are available through & your countries governing board for pressure vessels, etc.

ASTM A511 Standard Specification is not endorsed by the ASME B&PV Code.

Whatever code you are working to, if any, I would probably not use mechanical tubing for pressure-retaining.

Regards,

Mike

Thanks three of your input.

So legitimately we can not use A511-504 for pressure vessels or tubes designed to ASME VIII, right?

Thanks again.

Metengr,

Thank you very much!
