Hello,

i wonder if SA-182 F6A CLASS 1 or 2 (410SS forged equivalent) is NACE MR0103 compliant?

NACE MR0103 clause 13.4.1.2 says:
Heat-treatment procedure (three-step process) for UNS S41000, S42000, J91150 (CA15),
and J91151 (CA15M) martensitic stainless steel is as follows:
a) austenitize and quench or air cool;
b) temper at 621 °C (1 150 °F) minimum; then air cool to ambient temperature;
c) temper at 621 °C (1 150 °F) minimum, but lower than the first tempering temperature; then air
cool to ambient temperature.

But SA-182 says for F6A:
Heat treat type: anneal, normalize and temper or temper
Austenitizing/Solutioning Temperature: not specified (for anneal and normalize and temper) or not required (for temper)

NACE requires austenitize while in SA-182 it is not specified or required.

So is F6A or NACE MR0103 compliant or not? What do you guys Thing?

Thanks!

If a product is compliant to a given certification, it must be proved that the product is produced (and tested) exactly to the given specification. Almost is not good enough. The answer is no.
