Hi All,
we are designing a runway beam ,i would appreciate if any one could let me know any relevant american codes that i can use for designing the runway beam.
we have been using eurocodes in the past, but the beam is failing under the code.

Thanks
Badri07.

i would say that if its failing under one code it fails, a beam is a beam and the codes don't vary that much i would imagine. If your designing it (rather than checking) why can't you design it to work? It also depends where you are which code governs. BS2853 is a british standard that may be applicable.

Hi,
Thank you for your mail, infact we are just checking the beam,
we did check for the BS2853,it failed for the said standard as well.
Thanks

AISC with CMAA technical references...

AISC, also I like to use the old AISE Technical Report 13. (now AIST).
Be sure you are using the proper loading conditions for single & multiple cranes, impact loads, traction lods, and side thrust loads.

Where are you based, I still don't see how you can justify tryng different codes from other countries until one works.

This beam is an american built one...
