I am using RS Logix 5000 in conjunction with a motion system for laser processing. I was wondering if there was any way to include a shutter control in the program to prevent undesired processing. Any information would be very helpful. Thanks

It sounds like you might want the Motion Axis Watch (MAW) instruction and an Event Task triggered by the Axis Watch event.

This will allow you to specify a precise position during a motion move at which the motion module will fire an interrupt to run a particular Task, which in turn can control your shutter.

Axis Watch events and Registration events are the fastest ways for a ControlLogix to react to external events.

Even with the MAW Command I don't see how this will work. The MAW Command will recognize when I perform a certain move but how will that actually create a trigger that sends information to an outside source? Am I missing another command?

I need this watch command to trigger a small electric charge from the controller and I'll pass that through a voltage amplifier to get it to the required 5 volt charge I need to activate the shutter. Thanks for any help in advance.

Then your logic will trigger this output in the event task to trigger this amp.

the poster was saying you needed the event with motion to keep it in sync to give you this correct timing. Then he assumed that you understood that you would use an output for this shutter.
