A former employee converted cables in to imported objects. Now I can edit route spline but the cable itself remains. Is there a way to convert them back.

An imported object can only be created by importing it into a part or assy. A part cannot be converted into an imported part, however the feature recognition module (FeatureWorks) can create a regular part from an imported part.
