Hello, I am wondering if someone knows the answer to this. I am new to the Routing feature and am trying it out. I am wondering if it is possible to have more than 1 wire under a clip. The routing feature seems to be working great but the only thing is, is that I'll route all my wires first and assign the AWG, Color, Diameter, etc... And that looks fine and perfect, just how I want them. This is when it starts acting weird. My next step I do is reroute the spline through my clips. Now the first one I do looks great. It keeps the all the route properties and everything such as color, AWG, etc... But when I go and reroute the next wire in the clip along with the other wire thats when it gets weird. It loses the color of the wire. And then if you go and try to select chain, it only selects the spline up to the clip. And not the whole wire like it should. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or skipping a step or what. Maybe one of you guys may be able to help me out.

Thanks,

I haven't used Routing, but could you not apply colours after finalising the route?

Yes that is correct. I think I may be on to something though. I just found that it seems to work a little better if I put my clips in the routing assembly versious out side the assembly. It's only speculation at this time I'm still messing with it.

smiley1570,
Did you purchase SolidWorks Premium to get Router?
Yes you can have more than one wire under clip. Although your solid model will look like one wire.

As of right now FunTech is giving us a 30 day demo for our Professional edition. So where evaluating it to possibly upgrade to Premuim. Do you know for sure if the Clip needs to be in the Routing Assembly or can it be in the regular Assembly???

smiley1570,
I do not know for sure about the location of the clip. I only saw the demo. We are thinking about upgrading for the same reason as you.

See if you can see this webcast from GoEngineer on SolidWorks Routing.

If you are testing driving it, call your sales rep if they want to sell it they will support it. You can't call their Tech support line, because they can't help you, but the Sales rep and AE Should be able too!
