I am investigating the purchase of a rotating laser level for shooting grades for small to medium earthwork projects. Would like to spend under $1000, new or used. Brands that I've come across include CST/Berger and David White. Anybody have any good or bad experiences with these manufacturers or others they'd care to comment on? What features and specs would you look for most when buying one of these?
Thanks!

Be sure that you get one that is clearly visible even without a target at the distances you want. Also look for laser line width at the distances you will most be using the laser. Some of them get very wide and fuzzy at long distances.

Both of the manufacturer's you mentioned have a range of lasers from cheap to less cheap.

Mine is a Hilti and it has good range and visibability and cost was about $1500CAN.

I have used Topcon rotating lasers for years and found them good value for their cost.
