Any one has come across road smoothness requirements, 1/4" in 10' and 1/8" in 1'?

What you call smoothness is also typical in specifications (1/4" in 10' is in our state DOT spec.) The biggest concern is usually "bird-baths" (spots that would collect a pocket of water (ice)).

Thanks for reply. Can you point out what state and where can I find specifications?

You are looking for pavement surface profiling. It is done with a straightedge or profilograph.

Here is a link to the Connecticut Department of Transportation requirements. These appear to only apply to concrete pavement, so you might have to contact them for flexible pavement criteria....

Connecticut DOT Surface Profile

Yes. It is for surface profiling. Thanks for information.
