Riser welding - conrol heat zone 1

Does anybody have practical knowledge of a system or product to control the heat generated from a weld. The process being used is Flux Cored MIG, we intend to complete a 7 1/2" horizontal riser butt as topside completion to a flexible riser on a offshore Oil Platform. I would be interested in a compound that suppresses the travel of heat to an adjacent Umbilical Riser.
My thought?

Compound "Cool Pack"
Water powered "Cooling Sleeve"

Has anybody experiance of these are alternatives

Hi apple01,
Your best solution would be "silica heat dissipating paste"
and is usually available from repair and maintainance welding alloy companies.It sticks to anything,very effective
as a heat stop,completely re usable and washes off with water easily.I saw it demonstrated once by a rep who covered
his hand with approx 20mm,and proceeded by holding an
oxy-acetylyne welding torch onto his hand for what seemed like a very long time!Bearing in mind that oxy-acetylene
can reach temperatures in the range of 3200 celsius!

I used some of this stuff about 20 years ago called 'Heat Ban'. It was very good. If anyone knows where you can buy this stuff I would like to know as I too have an application for it.
