has anyone any experience with heavy timber fire checks for columns and/or beams?
using risa floor or risa 3d.

What do you mean by "fire checks"? I don't believe the program is doing anything related to checking for fire safety.

checking the size of the member for 1 or 2 hour per chapter 16 of the NDS. there are different adjustment factors for fire design.

Nope, the program doesn't consider anything related to fire rating in the structural design. That would have to be take care of outside of the program.

My personal background is with the heavy industrial sector (power plants, refineries and such). So, I'm not the most knowledgeable guy when it comes to wood as it was never an allowed material on the projects I worked on. At least not back in my days as a design engineer.

A quick perusal of our user request database suggests that we haven't had anyone officially request the feature either. If you're a licensed RISAFloor user, I suggest sending an "enhancement" request into the RISA support group. We'll have someone on staff that can follow up you one on what the feature would have to look like and what it would have to do.
