I want to place an eccentric distributed load on a beam in Risa 3D in order to induce torsion in the beam. It doesn't seem that Risa 3D accommodates this. Can anyone confirm? Thanks!

Go into the Distributed Load window. Under the second column (which is labeled "direction") select [red]Mx[/red] as the direction. This is the torque applied along the beam.

Read the help menu under "Distributed Loads Spreadsheet".

You might want to place a line load centered on the beam as well to be equivalent to an offset distributed load.

Look up rigid link in the help menu, this is a good way to do what you want to do. If you do what JAE said says, make sure the x is lower case.

akastud - in that particular instance, Mx is the only option. There are no My or Mz or MY, etc. choices.
