I need to upgrade our current punch press for deep drawing of cups, and I'm planning on using steel rings to hold the blank in place. To calculate the clamping pressure required, I just took a cross-sectional view of the 2 rings holding the blank. Is there an easy way to calculate the distributed clamping force on the entire ring or is the calculation I've done sufficient?
