Who in the world can answer that question without knowing line sizes, target flow rates in both the flush line and the pipe being flushed, and line length (most flushing agents will be spent when they have contacted a given amount of solute, you need to get an estimate of the mass you are flushing).

thanks for your swift reply any ways ...this is my first time on this froums ...to tell you the truth
I was not expecting that fast respond ( was cheking in :))

so we are trying to pull Kerose that is roughly 15 barrels/hour to flush a 175 ft pile line of a vacuum resid

the delta pressure is bout 150 PSIG and the kersone pulling point ( basically the new pipe to be constructed is roughly 100 ft long "

If you have 150 psig available to drop in your 100 ft supply line then you can move your 15 bbl/hour in a 1/2 inch line with an 90 psid drop. That would give you a velocity in the supply line around 17 ft/s which is a touch quick, and probably a show stopper. From a fabrication standpoint I'd probably look at 1-inch FRP since small welds are a pain. Using 1 inch would drop your dP to around 3.5 psid and your velocity in the supply line to around 4.5 ft/s.

Those numbers come from the D'Arcy-Weisbach equation.
