could any body give an explanation to the relationship
between ride height and rear axle bearing failures
 
None.

Unless you're talking about a low-rider, or any vehicle with the bump stops removed. Anytime the frame hits the axle directly, both will suffer.

Well, yes, but typically as you reduce the ride height you'll fit stiffer springs, or be running on the bump stops, more often. You could easily increase typical loads on a pothole from 3g to 5g with a 40mm reduction in ride height. That could reduce your bearing life by a factor of 10
