My company list detailed revisions on drawings in a format like:
c 5/05/07 9058 was 9500354 TS
B 9/08/02 8535 changes per pilot run CF
A 4/06/99 5536 release for production SL
What would be the best way to automatically update every drawing (revision list) effected by the revision and automatically list the roll the revision letters forward?

Tst,

Are you asking for a macro that batch updates drawings, or simply one that reduces the time it takes to update drawings?

Some of the "automatic" updating you are asking about can be done through PDMWorks. This will not automatically fill in the revision block however, but a macro can be used to do this with SolidWorks API. (I don't recommend getting involved with PDMWorks API.)

You can use this macro as a starting point. It allows user input to automatically fill in a rev block and applies some of those changes to the custom properties:
(Some minor modification will be needed to order the entries correctly.)

I'm looking for something that would do more of a batch type but if it would be consistent I would want something that saved time.

I'm not 100% clear. Is it one part with multiple drawings, and you want to update all of them at once?

Say we have a regulator valve that is being replaced. When we replace that valve, I want all the regulator drawings (models and all related files) revision tables updated automatically by adding a new revision like (rev.C valve was #5434654. The last rev. would have been rev. B so they automatically roll up. Is this possible?

Not that I know of. There really should only be one drawing per part anyway. I know a lot of companies don't do this.
My suggestion is to get something like PDMWorks.

There would only be one drawing per part, we just want let people who view the regulator know that a change has been made and what/when it was. The regulator would be an assembly and the valve just one of many pieces. It's like having a history attached to every drawing. We use adept (file sharing library software) that keeps a copy of old revisions if someone wants to view. I'm just looking for an easy way of adding the revision history to every drawing affected by the change of one part.

I suggest having a separate doc (Excel or Access) that will be the assy BOM/PL that shows the parts rev's. SHowing them on the assy dwg is not very stable and would not be very accurate based on other users updating the parts ... no matter how good an API would be.
