Hello,

I'm net to this forum and new to NX, so i may have a dumb question, but can't find good answers on the internet of other threads.
We are currently using inventor, and that has I-features, we modeled a punched, countersunk hole in a part of sheetmetal, set that as an ifeature, and can reuse it by selecting a point on the surface and inserting that i-feature. Very convenient. However now we are going to use NX, and I want to have a similar thing. I;ve modeled a piece of sheetmetal, modeled a punchtool in the same part, Used punchfunction, and that worked. However, that is quite elaborate, and we use this geometry quite often. So i want to be able to add it fast in a new piece of sheetmetal withouit having to change a lot of parameters each time.

I;ve tried Re-use library, and a tried UDF, but both are not realy working for me, or i can;t get them to work properly. Does anyone have tips? i;m using NX7.5 Thank you in advance.

When you say "can't get them to work properly" what specifically do you mean? I have created several SM UDFs for punch patterns, D-sub cutouts, etc. and cataloged them in the reuse library. I think they work quite nicely. Just drag them from the library and drop them on your SM part. Pick a placement face, horizontal reference and define the feature location and your done.

Well, i might just need a good "How to"to get them set properly. What is actually the faces/features that you would use as UDF? I have tried it with a punch defined from a sketch. but when i tried to reuse, i needed to set a Csys, and couln'd position the udf where i wanted.
At least i know that it should be possible to set this up. So do you know good documentation that could help?

thank you,

MArtijn
