Hi guys,

I need to get results on a surface close to a weld toe, but as the mesh do not corresponds exactly I cannot get nodes exactly at the distance I need results.
So my question is, can I create a line and get stress results along this line in Femap? See picture for explanation.

I saw the similar question in this post: thread1234-244485

Thank you

You can project a line onto the surface and remesh, then you will ensure you have nodes on the line and could then post-process the results at those nodes. It appears you are using tie constraints at the weld, so I'm not sure the von-mises stress at the weld toe will be of any help. Also, the mesh on your base plate and HSS (?) appear to far too coarse, which will again make your results almost meaningless.

May I ask why you aren't analyzing this weld by hand?
