We produce an industrial product that has been certified by UL for Class I Div II in North America and UL/Demko for Class I Zone 2 European hazardous locations. I am trying to determine if UL has a document or standard that governs the requirements for repair/refurbishment of Class 1 Div II equipment.

IEC has 60079-19 which relates repair of "European" Zone clasified hazardous area equipment. FM has FM3606 which relates to FM approved hazardous area equipment. I haven't been able to find a UL equivalent to these two standards for North American hazardous area equipment.

I also looked through the NEC (2005 Edition) and didn't see anything pertaining to repairs of quipment.

Any info would be appriciated.

FWIW, I believe FM is fairly widely accepted in North America too.

2008_WhiteBook.pdf from UL might get you started on your search; I don't remember where I downloaded it from, but Google should find it.

Hopefully you'll find something more insightful than this on p. 44:

"The continued acceptability of the equipment will depend upon proper maintenance."
