Dear experts,

My question is related to Annex T in the EN 13445-3:2021 Unfired pressure vessels and the equation (T.6-1, p. 859) to calculate the required burst pressure.

The Ps used in the formula stands for the maximum allowable pressure acc. to the Tables T.3-1 (p.854) and 4.1 (p. 17).

which, I think, is not quite correct. To calculate Ps you need to know the actual burst pressure which I get as a result of a burst test:

So in my opinion, the design pressure Pd shall be used in the equation for calculation of the required burst pressure. Is this a typo in the standard or am I missing/misunderstanding something?

P.S. I am actually making design review and can see that the Client used Pd in the T.6-1... I am wondering why...

Could you please help me sort out the issue?

Many thanks

Best regards,
Klara

Or may be a theoretical maximum allowable pressure (PS) used to calculate the required burst pressure? And then this initial PS is used to determine the preliminary required burst pressure for testing. And after the burst test, the actual burst pressure is used to calculate or verify the true maximum allowable pressure (PS).

Am I thinking right?
